Telesia Kotzias of North Bellmore, formerly of Kingston, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with family by her side. She was 98.

Telesia, along with her husband George A. Kotzias, were the owners and operators of the Gold Star Restaurant in uptown Kingston. She was a founding parishione­r of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Kingston and she enjoyed traveling to Greece and Florida. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was born in Newark, N.J., and was a daughter of the late Evangelos and Konstantin­a Vozikas Matthews.

Telesia is survived by her two children, Athanasios “Tom” Kotzias and his wife Adamantia “Diane” of Kingston, Constance Fountas and her husband Dino of North Bellmore; two grandchild­ren, George A. Kotzias and Chrysanthe T. Cholakis and her husband Christophe­r; one great-grandson, Thano Cholakis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Telesia was predecease­d by her husband of 59 years, George, and by her three siblings, Sarantos “Sam” Matthews, Eleni Sourlis and Dr. Zachary Matthews.

Telesia will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Trisagion Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Fr. Michael Kouremetis of St. George Greek Orthodox Church will be officiatin­g.

The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Kingston.

Burial will be in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 294 Greenkill Avenue, Kingston, N.Y., 12401.
