Albert ‘Chappy’ Cashara, 89, of Glasco

Albert “Chappy” Cashara, 89, of Glasco, died peacefully­with his family present on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Vincenzia Cashara.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Merola Cashara; two sons, Joseph and his wife Charlein of Lake Katrine and Anthony of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his daughter, Maryann Richardson and her husband Danny of Saugerties; four grandchild­ren, Nate, Evelyn, Nicole and Zachary; his sister, Pauline Castiglion­e of Myrtle Beach; and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by six brothers, Frank, Alex, Michael, Joseph, John, and Peter, and five sisters, Laura, Helen, Rosie, Louise and Gilda.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Glasco Fire Company, a parishione­r of St. Joseph’s Church in Glasco and a member of the Holy Name Society. Prior to Retirement he worked at Pilgrim Furniture in Kingston. He worked for the Saugerties Central Schools and the Head Custodian of the High School and most of the elementary Schools. He was also a manager, coach and umpire fro the Glasco-East Kingston Little League.

A funeral procession will form 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. Saugerties, N.Y., then proceed to St. Joseph’s Church in Glasco where a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will follow immediatel­y in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Family and friends will be received Friday at 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
