Area villages to hold elections

Elections on March 21 will have contested races in two Northern Dutchess County villages with an unconteste­d ballot in a third while the lone Ulster County election will consist of a slate of unchalleng­ed incumbents.

RHINEBECK

Residents will have a ballot that has races for mayor and two Village Board seats, with all positions carrying two-year terms.

Mayor Heath Tortarella on the Republican line is being challenged by Democratic Village Board Trustee Gary Bassett, while Village Board incumbent Trustees Gina Fox, a Democrat, and Howard Traudt, a Republican, are being contested by Democratic candidate Richard Lewit and Republican candidate Sarah Burke.

There will also be an unconteste­d race for village justice, with incumbent Judge William Sanchez seeking a four-year term.

Voting will be 12 to 9 p.m. in Town Hall at 80 East Market St.

RED HOOK

Residents will choose from four candidates to fill two Village Board trustee seats carrying four-year terms.

On the ballot will be incumbent Trustee Jennifer Norris on the Hardscrabb­le Party line, incumbent Trustee Stephen Zacharzuk on the Common Sense line; Charles Laing on the Progress Red Hook line, and Brett Lipton, who does not have a party listed on the his ballot line.

Voting will be noon to 9 p.m. in Village Hall at 7467 Broadway.

TIVOLI

There will be an unconteste­d ballot with two incumbent trustees and the mayor.

On the ballot will be Mayor Joel Griffith, Trustee Susan Ezrati and Trustee Christophe­r Murphy. All three candidates on the Tivoli First line and seeking two-year terms.

Voting will be from noon to 9 p.m. in the firehouse at 2 Tivoli Commons.

SAUGERTIES

Residents choose from an unconteste­d ballot that has incumbents for the two-year terms of three Village Board trustee positions and mayor.

On the ballot will be Mayor William Murphy. Trustee Jeff Helmuth, Trustee Jeannine Mayer and Trustee Brian Martin. All four candidates are on the New Vision ballot line.

Voting will be noon to 9 p.m. in Village Hall at 43 Partition St.
