Gym Stars crown seven champs at state meet
The Gym Stars had seven members win titles at the Xcell State Championships and two advance to the regionals. Jessica LaManda and Emma Connor led the Gym Stars in the state meet at The College at Brockport.
BROCKPORT, N.Y. >> The Gym Stars had seven members win titles at the Xcell State Championships and two advance to the regionals.
Jessica LaManda and Emma Connor led the Gym Stars in the state meet at The College at Brockport.
LaManda was the Diamond Division All-around champion with 36.825 points, winning the uneven bars with a 9.70 and floor exercise with a 9.575. She was also third on the vault (9.15) and seven on the balance beam (8.40).
Connor won the beam (9.60) and floor in the Gold Child D Division. She also was eighth (9.375) on the bars, 11th (8.80) on the vault and third (37.10) all-around.
Both girls qualified for the regional championships in May.
Jessica Baeckmann won the floor title in the Gold Child A Division with a 9.425 score.
The local team had four titlists in the Bronze Division.
Lorna Quirk won the allaround (38.45) and beam (9.40) in the Bronze Junior A. She was runner-up in the other three events, scoring 9.70 on the vault, 9.55 on the bars and 9.80 on the floor.
Julianna Traini won the vault (9.80) in the Junior A. Kaylan Rennig was the beam champion (9.70) and Alyssa Traini the winner on the floor (9.80) in the Bronze Senior A Division.
The Gym Stars Bronze team placed second overall and the Diamond team third.
