The performance is part of Kaatsbaan’s Music Inspires Dance Concert Series.
Duo Lontano, featuring pianists Babette Hierholzer and Jürgen Appell, will perform Sunday, April 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, 120 Broadway, Tivoli.
The performance is part of Kaatsbaan’s Music Inspires Dance Concert Series.
Several years ago, Hierholzer and Appell initiated a successful collaboration dedicated to the rich four hand and two piano repertoire. In 2010, they appeared on stage for the first time at Kaatsbaan, performing a romantic program for two pianos. In December 2010, they received an invitation to Caracas, Venezuela, to perform Mozart’s “Concerto” for 2 pianos and orchestra in E flat major with the Orquesta Juvenil Simon Bolivar conducted by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
This month, they received an invitation to Havana, Cuba, to perform, apart from a series of fourhand recitals, the “Carnival of Animals” by Saint-Saens for two pianos and orchestra with the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Cuba conducted by Enrique Pérez Mesa.
At Kaatsbaan, Hierholzer and Appell will perform works by Johann Pachelbel, J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Ernesto Lecuona, Carlos Gardel and Richard Wagner.
Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for student rush and children. There will be a champagne reception to meet the artists after the concert.
