The Village Board will vote April 17 on the proposed $2.34 million village budget for 2017-18.

The budget is 0.2 percent larger than the village’s 2016-17 spending plan and would increase the property tax levy by 1.66 percent.

Mayor Bill Murphy said Monday that the delayed state budget should not have an impact on village finances.

“We were conservative on our [state highway aid] estimates, so that’s the only thing that could possibly be impacted,” he said. “If anything, we [estimated] on the low side. We always go conservative because we always finish our budget before the state does, but we’ve never had the amount be that far off before.”

The proposed village budget estimates $111,113 in state aid for roads, which would be 11.7 percent lower than the 2016-17 figure.

Village Board member Terry Parisian said Saugerties has leftover state highway aid that wasn’t used in 2016-17 and that New York might reimburse the village for the some of the snow-removal costs related to the March 14 storm.

Most expenses in the proposed village budget are unchanged from 201617. On the revenue side, the budget calls for:

• $87,000 in court fines, up 2.4 percent from 2016-17.

• $60,000 from sales taxes, up 17.7 percent.

• $40,000 from parking meter fees, up 8.1 percent.

• $30,000 from interest on taxes, up 20 percent.

• $20,000 from permit fees, up 33.3 percent.

• $5,500 from business license fees, up 22.2 percent.
