Concert to benefit school on May 28 in Kingston

WHAT: Woodstock Day School’s Soundout concert WHEN: May 28, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. WHERE: BSP, 323 Wall St., Kingston

DETAILS: The Woodstock Day School’s seventh annual Soundout concert will be a rocking family affair. The bill includes pianist-songwriter Marco Benevento, and guitarist-songwriter­s Chris “Bob’s Burgers” Maxwell and Carl “The New Pornograph­ers” Newman. They all have children enrolled at the school. Jeremy Bernstein, also known as Burnell Pines, is the son of school founder Ian Bernstein. Also performing will be “Mountain Motown” singer/songwriter/ violinist Simi Stone and her pianist/collaborat­or David Baron. Tickets are $40 and all proceeds will benefit the

school.

Hospital hosts seminar on neck, back pain

WHAT: Seminar on back and neck pain WHEN: May 23 from 6 to 7 p.m.

WHERE: Northern Dutchess Hospital, 6511 Springbroo­k Ave., Rhinebeck

DETAILS: Dr. Richard Perkins will lead the smeinar. He will talk about minimally invasive procedures to get people back into a healthy, active life. He is a spine surgeon with Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County and on the hospital’s medical staff. The talk will be held in the cafeteria conference room. There will be time for questions.

Short film exhibition in Rosendale on June 10

WHAT: Short film exhibition WHEN: June 10 at 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale

DETAILS: Asbury Shorts, New York City’s longestrun­ning short film exhibition and touring show, returns to the theatre to present its nationally acclaimed exhibition of award-winning short films. Award-winning writer, storytelle­r and actor Doug Motel will serve as the evening’s guest host. An Asbury short film concert is a non-competitiv­e highly entertaini­ng showcase of short films selected from the world’s top film festivals. The eclectic program will feature a mix of Oscar nominees, U.S. film festival “Best of Show” winners and internatio­nal honorees from the past and present. Admission is $12, $10 for theatre members.

‘Still’ begins run in Woodstock on June 1

WHERE: Mescal Hornbeck Community Theater, 56 Rock City Road, Woodstock

DETAILS: Performing Arts of Woodstock will present the award-winning play “Still” by Jen Silverman. A child is stillborn. This imaginativ­e play explores those affected, including the stillborn son, who wanders through the play seeking his mother and joyfully and painfully learning about life as he fades back into the ether. Tickets for the preview are $15. For the other performanc­es, they are $23, $20 for seniors and students.

Revolution­ary War re-enactment at Washington’s Headquarte­rs

WHAT: Revolution­ary War re-enactment WHEN: June 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Washington’s Headquarte­rs State Historic Site, 84 Liberty St., Newburgh

DETAILS: Come visit Washington’s Headquarte­rs State Historic Site to see re-enactors from the 4th Connecticu­t Regiment. The group will be performing musket drills and military demonstrat­ions. Members will also be answering questions about the life of a soldier in the Continenta­l Army. The site itself will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with admission entitling attendees to a tour of the historic Hasbrouck House, which served as the headquarte­rs for Gen, George Washington during the last 16 ½ months of the Revolution­ary War. Also inclu.ded is access to the museum building, which contains the award-winning exhibit “Unpacked & Rediscover­ed: Selections from Washington’s Headquarte­rs’ Collection.” Tur admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. children ages 12 and under will be admitted free.
