Johnson named Kingston head coach
Defensive coordinator promoted to take over for Nick Badalato
Quintin Johnson has been named new Kingston High varsity head football coach.
Johnson, a 2006 Kingston graduate, replaces Nick Badalato, who decided to step down from the position after one season. The Tigers finished 0-9 last fall.
“Coach Nick Badalato continues be a valued coach for the (school district) and for the boys varsity track and field team, and we are appreciative of the good work he did with the football team during the 2016-2017 school year,” said Kingston Schools Superintendent Paul Padalino in an email statement.
“Coach Badalato voluntarily decided to step down from the position, and he will be an excellent resource for Coach Johnson as he becomes part of the KCSD community and enters his first year as football coach.”
Johnson, a Kingston High School Physical Education teacher, becomes the Tigers’ third varsity head football coach in three years. Badalato took over for Jeramie Collins last year.
Johnson, who called the head coach’s job a “dream come true,” was defensive coordinator the last two years.
“Kingston is home to me,” he said in a press release. “I loved every minute of being a student at Kingston. Working and living in the community has been a highlight of my life.”
The 2006 Kingston graduate went on to SUNY Brockport and Emporia State University in Kansas. He had been a physical edu-
cation teacher in the Red Hook School District for six years and joins the Kingston district this fall.
