Woman arrested in Bearsville break-in

WOODSTOCK, N.Y. >> A homeowner’s ex-wife is charged with breaking into and then destroying personal property worth more than $350,000 at a residence in the hamlet of Bearsville in 2015, state police said Tuesday.

Ana D. Rockman, 59, of Elmont, Long Island, was arrested by state police at Ulster after turning herself in at about 3 p.m. on Monday at the state police barracks, 1791 U.S. Route 209, in the town of Ulster. She was charged with the felonies of burglary and criminal mischief, police said. Rockman surrendere­d after a warrant was issued for her arrest, according to a press release.

Police did not provide the address of the residence or the name of the homeowner.

On Aug. 20, 2015, the state police bureau of criminal investigat­ion assumed an investigat­ion begun by Woodstock police involving “the burglary and destructio­n of the contents of a residence in ... Bearsville.”

Troopers and investigat­ors discovered that someone had forced entry to the residence and damaged the personal property of the owner, police said. The items damaged consisted of artwork, antiques, electronic devices and appliances, musical instrument­s, the structure itself, and “personal sentimenta­l items” worth more than $350,000, according to a press release.

Police said Rockman is the ex-wife of the homes owner.

She was arraigned in the Woodstock Town Court and was released after posting $5,000 bail. Rockman was also ordered to surrender her passport as a term of her release on bail.
