The following items are based on information provided by officials in law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
City of Kingston
· DWI: Luis A. Diego, 25, of Bridgeport, Conn., was arrested by state police at Ulster at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday on Albany Avenue and charged with the misdemeanors of driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent and drunken driving. Diego was released with a ticket for Kingston City Court.
Cairo
· Aggravated contempt: Kyle W. Veverka, 26, of South Cairo, was arrested by state police at Coxsackie at 3:43 p.m. Monday and charged with the felony of aggravated contempt by violating an order of protection, and the misdemeanors of obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief for preventing an emergency call. Veverka was released after posting $5,000 bail.
· Drugs: George Higgins, 53, of Catskill, was arrested by state police at Coxsackie at 9:32 p.m. Monday on state Route 23 and charged with four misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, the violation of possession of marijuana, and with facilitating aggravated unlicensed driving, an infraction. Higgins was released with a ticket for Cairo Town Court.
Town of Kingston
· Assault: Ryan J. Hoffman, 18, of Port Ewen, was arrested by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies at about 5 a.m. May 15 and charged with the felony of assault. Hoffman’s arrest followed a report of a subject under the influence of drugs in the town. On arrival, deputies called for an ambulance. While Hoffman was being taken to a hospital, he became combative with a paramedic, who sustained minor injuries. Deputies got an arrest warrant for Hoffman and arrested him. He was released after posting bail.
Saugerties
· Drugs: Matthew S. Doyle, 34, of Saugerties, was arrested by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday on Old Route 32 in the town after being stopped for a traffic violation and was charged with the felony of possession of a controlled substance (more than one half ounce of methamphetamine) and the misdemeanor of driving with a suspended registration. Drug paraphernalia was found in Doyle’s vehicle, police said. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
