Audrey Marie Permoda Lutz, 82, passed away at her home on June 14, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; and two siblings, Wally and Jerry.

Audrey was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 5, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Wanda (Skupniewic­z) Permoda. She graduated from Taft High School in Chicago in 1953. Audrey worked at a Savings and Loan in Chicago, American Airlines in New York City, Artie’s German American Restaurant in Red Hook and the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.

On April 29, 1962, she married Arthur John Lutz. They moved to Red Hook in 1966, where they owned and operated Artie’s German American Restaurant for 18 years. They moved to Rhinebeck in 1984. Arthur passed away in 2008.

Audrey was a faithful member of St. Christophe­r’s Church in Red Hook until she was no longer able to attend. She was a tomboy, an avid reader who loved animals, traveling, crochet, crafts and crossword puzzles.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Linda and boyfriend Wayne of Modena, N.Y.; her son, U.S. Navy Commander Robert and his wife Hilary of Yorktown, Va.; her two grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy; her sister-in-law, Loretta Permoda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, on Wednesday June 21, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at St. Christophe­r’s Church in Red Hook on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in Rhinebeck Cemetery.
