Herbert Glyn Gahn, 88, of Kerhonkson

Herbert Glyn Gahn of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. He was 88 years old.

Herbert was born on Jan. 15, 1929, in Queens, N.Y.; he was the son of Herbert and Edna Gahn.

Following high school graduation, Herbert attended a trade school, where he learned the technique of surveying. He went on to work as a surveyor for the Long Island Lighting Company, where he remained for 40 years.

Herbert volunteere­d his time at the Mohonk Preserve and was an active member of the Community Church of High Falls. He was a profession­al photograph­er and enjoyed capturing those special moments in peoples’ lives. Herbert also enjoyed building miniature doll houses.

In addition to his wife, Joan Mary Gahn, whom he married on Sept. 12, 1953, Herbert is survived by his daughter, Linda Loomis (Charles) of Accord; his son, Allen Gahn (Naomi Herbert) of Hampton, England; eight grandchild­ren, Coralyn Loomis, Thomas Loomis, Zoe Gahn, Innes Gahn, Michael O’Hanlon, Jennifer Wolfe, Courtney Pazienza and Haley Pazienza; and five great-grandchild­ren, Adriana Marano, Laith Loomis, Abigail and Clara Wolfe and Ariana Pazienza.

Herbert was predecease­d by his daughter, Lisa Pazienza, and his brother, Douglas Gahn.

Visiting will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a celebratio­n of his life immediatel­y following at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Benton Bar Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made in Herbert’s name to the Community Church of High Falls, P.O. Box 68, High Falls, N.Y. 12440.
