Mark J. Kasmir, Sr., 68, of Birch Street, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at home.

Born Nov. 17, 1948 in Freeport, N.Y., he was the son of the late Michael J. and Katherine H. (Soper) Kasmir.

Mark was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He was a car mechanic in various shops in the Kingston area for many years. In addition to being a car enthusiast, Mark was an artist who enjoyed painting with watercolor­s and oils.

Surviving are his children, Mark J. Kasmir, Jr., Ellen Jackson, Teryl Gedney, Ronald Gedney, Jr.; his brothers and sisters, Alinda C. Smith and her husband Vernon, Susan Pawson, Cathy Devoid, David Kasmir, Paul Kasmir and his wife Tanna. Several grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Mark’s wife, Jayne Kasmir; his daughter, Paula Altomari; his siblings, Stephen and Mary Kasmir all died previously.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at the family plot in Montrepose Cemetery.
