Stockade FC on road for playoff match

Reigning National Premier Soccer League Atlantic White Conference champion Kingston Stockade FC will take to the road for Saturday’s Northeast Regional semifinal.

Kingston, which won it’s firstever playoff game this past Saturday at Dietz Stadium, will face Keystone Conference champion Clarkstown SC Eagles out of Rockland County in a 7:30 p.m. match at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.

The winner of Saturday’s showdown will face the winner of Saturday’s other semifinal between Elm City Express (New Haven, Connecticu­t) and Legacy 76 SC (Williamsbu­rg, Virginia) in the regional final on July 29.

The four regional winners

(Northeast, West, Midwest, South) will square off in the national semifinals on Aug. 5, with the NPSL championsh­ip scheduled for Aug. 12.

Stockade is coming off a hard-fought 2-1 overtime victory over Hartford City FC in front of a club-record attendance of nearly 1,400 at Dietz. Michael Creswick’s goal in the 94th minute proved to be the difference.

Bruce Jeter scored Kingston’s other goal to tie the score in the 15th minute in the win that also avenged a 3-1 loss to Hartford in Kingston’s season-opener on May 8.

Clarkstown advanced with a 3-1 victory over New Jersey Copa FC. Christophe­r Katona scored a pair of goals in the victory, with Emerson Lawrence adding a tally.
