Police identify woman who died in car crash
The Hudson woman who died in a car crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 9 and county Route 31 in this Columbia County town was identified Thursday as Tammy L. Parker.
Parker, 40, who was not wearing a seat belt in the Wednesday morning crash, was thrown from the vehicle, state police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police said Parker and Daniel Rowe, 64, also of Hudson, were occupants in a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier that was eastbound on Route 31 about 6:50 am. Wednesday when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Route 9 and collided with a 2017 Hyundai being driven north on Route 9 by Denise Burpo, 62, of Livingston.
As of Thursday afternoon, police had not said whether Parker or Rowe was driving the Cavalier.
The Cavalier overturned after the crash and then struck a vehicle parked at an Xtra Mart gas station, police said. They said the Hyundai also flipped and came to rest in the Xtra Mart parking lot.
Burpo and her passenger, Denise Simmons, 53, of Hudson, were taken to Albany Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Rowe also was taken to Albany Medical Center. State Trooper Melissa McMorris did not know his condition Thursday afternoon.
The crash remained under investigation Thursday and no charges hade been filed.
