Bank robbery suspect arrested, jailed
$100,000 bail for city man accused of holding up Key branch on Wall St.
KINGSTON, N.Y. » A 27-year-old Kingston man has been charged with Monday’s robbery of the Key Bank branch on Wall Street, city police said Tuesday.
Bradley J. Cook, of Moore Street, was charged with felony robbery, police said. After being arraigned early Tuesday, he was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
He remained in the jail late Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Bradley entered the bank at 267 Wall St. about 2:45 p.m. Monday, demanded cash and left through the building’s rear door.
No weapon was displayed and no one was injured, police said. Police said Cook made off with an undisclosed amount
of money and did not say whether the cash was recovered.
Police said Cook became a “potential person of interest” in the robbery during the investigation and was arrested Monday evening. They did not say where or exactly when he was apprehended, but Detective Lt. Thierry Croizer said police “knew some of his hangouts and his home address.”
He was arrested “inside the Kingston area,” Croizer said.
Police did not say whether they believe Cook acted alone, though no other arrests were announced.
Croizer said Cook has a criminal history but that none of his arrests were for robbery.
The Freeman’s online archives show Cook was charged in March 2015 in Kingston with criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, in a case involving metal knuckles.
Monday’s robbery was the fourth at the Key Bank branch in a span of eight years. The others were on March 27, 2009, March 31, 2009, and Jan. 10, 2011.
