Two doing prison time for trying to hide body
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Two Newburgh residents who left a human corpse in a Plattekill ditch are serving time in state prison after pleading guilty to the crime, according to Ulster County Court documents.
Kristen Green, 43, and Angel Delgado Jr., 46, were sentenced by Ulster County Court Judge Donald A. Williams for concealing a human corpse, a felony.
Green, Delgado and Lauren Romano, 35, also of Newburgh, were arrested Feb. 28, 2016, and charged with concealment of a human corpse and the misdemeanor of conspiracy.
Green and Delgado pleaded guilty to the concealment charge on Feb. 17.
Delgado was sentenced by Williams on April 14 to one to three years in state prison. He is serving his sentence at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility in St. Lawrence County, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website, and is eligible for parole in April 2018.
Green was sentenced by Williams on May 35 to oneand-a-half to three years in state prison. She is serving her sentence at the Taconic Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, according to the corrections department website, and is eligible for parole in October 2018.
Romano also pleaded guilty to concealment of a human corpse and was sentenced on May 25 to 180 days in the Ulster County jail and five years of probation.
Police located the body of Alexis Scalon, 28, of Newburgh, in a ditch on New Unionville Road in Plattekill after an investigation by state police. State police Lt. Brian Webster has said Scalon died of an accidental overdose of heroin and fentanyl and that he did not know why the three attempted to hide the corpse.
Webster said Scalon died at Delgado’s home in the city of Newburgh but had not lived there.
