Kingston freshmen boys 2nd in Shore Invitational
Kingston High’s freshmen boys cross country team placed second Saturday at the New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational meet.
Colin Keck led the unit, placing seventh overall in the two-mile race in 12:13. The rest of the Kingston squad included Andrew Hill (26th, 12:47), Trevor Loughlin (32nd, 12:58), Paul Herrling (42nd, 13:09), Kenny Straker (48th, 13:13), Joe Ciardi (49th, 13:14) and Gabe Bonse (57th, 13:32).
The top 35 individuals medal. The other Kingston runner to medal was Matt Krom, who was 25th (20:28) in the 3.1-mile junior varsity race.
The boys varsity, meanwhile, was 12th with Bailey Ryan (44th, 18:17) leading. The junior varsity was also 12th.
Kingston’s varsity girls, led by Maggie Noe (45th, 22:04) and Halie TerBush (49th, 22:06) were 11th. The freshmen finished 12th overall and the junior varsity 21st.
Kingston has its final home dual meet 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against Newburgh Free Academy and will compete in the Brown Invitational in Rhode Island on Saturday. BOYS Varsity
At Saugerties, Roosevelt’s Sarah Trainor won the girls race and Jack Hobson of Red Hook was second in the boys race in the annual Lombardo Invitational.
Trainor won by 35 seconds with her time of 18:41.18. Hobson was just six seconds back of Arlington’s Colin Waters with his 16:25.
Roosevelt’s boys were third (107 points) and Red Hook (121) fourth. Sachem North edged Arlington 43-45 for the title. The girls championship went to Arlington, which topped Sachem North 4045. Roosevelt was third (95) and Red Hook (113) fourth again in this race. BOYS
