Kingston enjoys sweep of Newburgh

Brooke Gastin scored two goals as Kingston High beat Ellenville 4-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League field hockey match.

After 28 minutes of scoreless play, Gastin’s unassisted goal gave the (8-2-1 overall, 7-1-1 MHAL) Tigers a 1-0 lead heading into the half. Gastin made it 2-0 early in the second, and Meghan Gavis extended Kingston’s lead to 3-0 off a Grace Gavis assist five minutes later.

Tori Quick connected with Alex Lettre to round the Tigers’ scoring. Kingston dominated 20-4 in shots on goal and edged the Devils 6-4 in corners.

Lizzie Smith and Analiese Amato had one save each for the Tigers in the shutout, while Megan Eckert stopped 13 for (34-1) Ellenville. Pine Plains 2, Red Hook 1

At Red Hook, Megan Murray found the net on a Jackie Povall assist with just over 13 minutes remaining in the match to break a 1-1 tie.

With the Bombers down 1-0 after the Raiders’ Danielle Walsh scored off a Sydney Ottman assist, Bella Torre scored off a Povall assist five minutes into the second half to knot the score.

Pine Plains led 12-3 on shots on goal and 6-4 in corners.

Alice Wilser had six saves for the Bombers (5-6-1, 4-4-1), while Alyssa Shaffrick recorded 10 stops for the (10-4, 6-3) Raiders. Coxsackie 5, Rhinebeck 2

At Rhinebeck, Kelsey Van-

Vechten and Emily Nazi each scored two goals for the Indians. All of the C-A goals came in the first-half.

The Hawks’ goals came from Lia Vaccarino 18 minutes

into the second half and Penny Paldino with minutes left in regulation. Coxsackie-Athens Led 18-10 in shots on goal.

Grace Johnson had six saves for Rhinebeck and Kylie Fitzgerald had five stops for the Indians. Onteora 2, Spackenkill 0

At Boiceville, Allison

Kim and Sarah Jones each scored a goal to lift the Eagles.

Kim’s goal came on a pass from Corey Chun with 30 seconds left in the first half and Jones’ goal came on a pass from Natalya Morton.

Onteora held a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal.
