Free tours of Vanderbilt Site gardens on Oct. 15
WHAT: Garden tours WHEN: Oct. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. (weather permitting) WHERE: Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, 119 Vanderbilt Park Road, Hyde Park DETAILS: Vanderbilt Garden Association interpreters will offer free tours of the formal gardens at the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site. Tours begin at the entrance to the gardens. The volunteer interpreters will discuss the history of the gardens, with a focus on the Vanderbilt ownership and the mission of the not-forprofit association to rehabilitate and maintain the plants, shrubs, trees and statuary in the gardens as they were in the 1930s just prior to Mr. Vanderbilt’s death. They will also provide information about three major projects the gardens are currently undergoing: The renovation of the Cherry Walk, the replanting of the Rose Garden terraces and the rehabilitation of the Rose Garden fountain. Visitors can also visit the 1875 Toolhouse to look at photographs of the gardens taken during and since the Vanderbilt era. Hambones in Dylan tribute at Bridge Street Theatre
WHAT: Concert, “The Hambones: A Bob Dylan Celebration” WHERE: Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Bridge Street Theatre, 44 W. Bridge St., Catskill DETAILS: The Hambones’ journey through Bob Dylan’s seminal album “Blood on the Tracks” was a monster hit at Bridge Street Theatre in 2016. Now, the group returns to Catskill with a sweeping celebration of the work of the recent Nobel Prize winner, with a special concentration on Dylan songs that have been hits for other major artists like Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, The Byrds, The Band and The Grateful Dead.
