Lecture on landscape designer takes place Nov. 6
WHAT: Lecture, “Beatrix Farrand, Landscape Designer” WHEN: Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Cornwall Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson DETAILS: The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, in partnership with the Cornwall Presbyterian Church presents a lecture titled “Beatrix Farrand, Landscape Designer.” Famous for her complex flower borders, as well as advocacy of native landscapes and plants, Farrand was one of the foremost landscape designers of the early 1900s. Join Karen Smythe, executive director of the Beatrix Farrand Garden Association, will talk about Farrand’s life and work, as well as the restoration of one of her early residential designs in Hyde Park. WHAT: “What should stay, what can go?” A workshop on organizing paper documents. WHEN: Nov. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. WHERE: East Room of Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli DETAILS: the library hosts a workshop with Your Hudson Valley Organizer Johanna Bard. Learn about how to identify, update, maintain and secure your important life documents. Johanna works to make sense of the myriad papers accumulated during life and to prepare them for designated family members, and/or trusted advisors as necessary, or just for yourself.
