HYDE PARK, N.Y. » Red Hook High’s boys and girls soccer teams both lost in the Section 9, Class A championship match at Roosevelt Saturday.

The Raiders lost 2-1 to Cornwall in the girls final. The boys lost 3-0 to Goshen. Both Red Hook teams had come into the match fresh off winning the Mid-Hudson Athletic League titles last week. Cornwall 2, Red Hook 1

Christina Coppola scored both goals to lead Cornwall to its first title in five years.

She connected off a rebound on a blocked shot with 10:30 left in the first half. The Green Dragons capitalized on their pressure, connecting once again on a second consecutive corner kick with Coppola scoring off a loose ball in front of the net just four minutes into the second half.

Grace Hennig scored on a 15yard blast with 22:32 remaining to draw Red Hook within 2-1, but the (16-2) Raiders could never get the equalizer. Goshen 3, Red Hook 0

A brilliant performance by goalkeeper Ryan Hobson kept the Raiders in the match.

Two of Goshen’s goals came right after great saves by Hobson. Liam Kelly punched in a rebound after Hobson made the initial save on a corner kick to put the Gladiators ahead 10:23 into the match. Jeremy Pantoni scored at the 20th minute to make it a 2-0 game at halftime.

With 24 minutes remaining, Hobson ranged to his left and deflected Zemi Rodriguez’s shot with his hand. Malik Diouf, however, moved toward the far post and banged in the rebound.
