Walter S. Duspiva, 78, of Kingston
Walter S. Duspiva, 78, of 305 Hurley Ave., Kingston, N.Y., died at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, Nov., 11, 2017, of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 16, 1938, to Albert and Jessica (Bartos) Duspiva at Mount Kisco, N.Y.
A graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Katonah, N.Y., in 1957, he received his BSEE in 1961 and MSEE in 1963 from The University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. He worked in Chicago, Ill., before coming back to New York state, where he was hired by IBM, working in Endicott, Kingston, Raleigh, N.C., and returning to Kingston, where he finished his career as an advisory engineer. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, both national engineering honor societies.
Walt was a member of The First Baptist Church of Kingston, N.Y., from 1975-1995, and St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Kingston, N.Y., from 1995 - 1995, but he preferred to be called just a non-denominational Christian.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Linda S. (Pribis) Duspiva; his sister, Arden Duspiva Billings and husband Paul Billings of Williamsburg, Va.; and cousins from his mother’s family.
Cremation arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y. Burial will be private at Hurley Cemetery at a later time.
