Ronald LeRoy Irwin, 77, of Spring Glen

Mr. Ronald LeRoy Irwin a long time resident of Spring Glen, N.Y., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown. He was 77.

He was born Jan. 27, 1940 in Walden, N.Y., the son of the late Albert F. Irwin and the late Ella A. Markle Irwin.

Ronald proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a Sonar and Communicat­ions specialist. He was also a member of the American Legion.

He went on to use technical skills at IBM in Kingston, N.Y., working as a Computer Technician traveling around the country repairing main frame computers.

Ronald married Sharon Tice 53 years ago on Oct. 3, 1964 in the Walden Methodist Church in Walden, N.Y.

A family statement read: Dad was a man who showed his family he loved them deeply. His greatest joy was his wife, children, and grandchild­ren. He loved to have family gatherings. He possessed an unmatchabl­e sense of humor. He was a loyal and caring man that was devoted to his family.

Surviving are wife, Sharon T. Irwin, at home; son, Daniel Ward Irwin and his fiancé Patrica Thomas of Cleveland, Tenn.; son, James Russell Irwin and his wife Tricia of Huguenot, N.Y.; brother, Albert Irwin, Jr., of New Windsor, N.Y.; sister, Beverly Stuhmer and her husband Raymond of Montgomery, N.Y.; 10 grandchild­ren: Shannon Plaza and her husband Joe, Victoria Irwin, Justin Irwin, Christophe­r Irwin, Erica Martzen, Anthony Irwin, Rosamaria Irwin, Adrianna Irwin, Emily Gardner, and Zachary Irwin; great-granddaugh­ter, Auria; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend who is like a son, Charles Wallack and his wife Jody of Spring Glen, N.Y.

he is predecease­d by a son, Heath Ward Irwin, and a brother, Richard D. Irwin.

There will be no visitation and funeral services will be held private at the convenienc­e of the family.
