Bernadette M. Verpent, 90, of Saugerties

SAUGERTIES » Bernadette M. Verpent died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Health-Alliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston. She was 90 years old.

Born Aug. 30, 1927 in Jersey City, N.J.; she was the daughter of Bernard McHugh and Ann Kahrar McHugh. On Jan. 26,1946 she married George Verpent who predeceased her in 1990.

She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Centerville and was very active with various local and international charitable organizations. The majority of her time was spent as a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her six children, Gregory Verpent and his wife Ninfa of Boonton, N.J., Kevin Verpent of Saugerties, Mark Verpent and his wife Mary Jean of Bayville, N.J., Susan Romano and her husband George of Vernon, N.J., Maureen Constanza and her husband Gerald of Toms River, N.J., and Carolyn Damrath and her husband Joseph of Saugerties; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Timothy Verpent in 2010.

A Funeral procession will form 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, N.Y., and then proceed to St. John the Evangelist Parish Center in Centerville, where a 10 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.
