KINGSTON » Kathleen Frances Kenyon died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 1, 2018 in Kingston, N.Y., She was 93 years old.

In her final days, she was surrounded by her devoted family, loving husband Gerry Goldman, and her trusted caretaker Guendeline Jernigan.

Kathleen was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y.; the only child of Catherine Steton and Joseph McManus. A lifelong student and educator, she received her bachelor’s degree in 1945 from State University of New York at Oswego and a Masters in Education from State University of New York at New Paltz in 1976.

She lived across New York state throughout her life- Brooklyn, Oswego, Babylon, N.P., Woodstock, her favorite place because of the arts, Rhinebeck, and Kingston.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Gerald Goldman, to whom she was married, in 1987. Her first husband, Raymond George Kenyon, was an educator, author, and artist, they were married in 1948 until his death in 1974.

She is also survived by her twin daughters, Kathleen Raymond Kenyon and Colleen Francis Kenyon; her son, Kevin Raymond Kenyon; her daughter-inlaw, Jane Henderson Kenyo; and her three grandchild­ren: Isabelle Taylor Kenyon, Taylor Thompson Kenyon, and John Raymond Kenyon.

Her friends knew her as “Lee” and her family as “Grandma K”.

She had a keen mind and an easy sense of humor. She had wonderful friends and could communicat­e her thoughts with a sly smile or well-timed eyeroll. Her classrooms reflected her warmth and desire to help each student. She humbly built a very successful real estate career working with New Yorkers after moving to Woodstock.

Kathleen adored summer vacations on Nantucket with her family and friends. Her ashes will be brought to Cisco Beach, her favorite spot on the island.

Kathleen cared deeply for the care she was provided in last few years, as well as the care that was given to others, by Hudson Valley Hospice/Hospice of Dutchess County/Hospice of Ulster County (www. hvhospice.org) as well as the Brookmeade Community Foundation (www. brookmeade­com munityfoun­dation.com) which is establishi­ng a center for Alzheimer’s patients, in Rhinebeck. The family asks that donations in Kathleen’s honor be given to these worthy non-profits.

A Memorial celebratin­g Kathleen’s life will be held at Arbor Ridge, Rhinebeck, N.Y., on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., all are welcome.
