Talk on stockade at Senate House on Feb. 8
WHAT: Talk on exhibit about Kingston’s Stockade
WHEN: Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
WHERE: Senate House State Historic Site, 296 Fair St., Kingston
DETAILS: The site will present a program on its newest exhibit, “Kingston’s Stockade: New Netherlands’ Third City.” The program will be presented by Travis Bowman, curator at the New York State Bureau of Historic Sites in Waterford. He will discuss the research and translations that were conducted in preparation for the new exhibit, giving a more in-depth glimpse to everyday life in late 17th century Kingston. Some of the topics to be covered include slavery, the early economy and Dutch-Indian relations. After his talk, Bowman will tour visitors around the exhibit providing further details and facts about the objects. The event is free, and all are welcome.

Library hosts Valentine’s Day card workshop
WHAT: Valentine’s Day card workshop
WHEN: Feb. 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: East Room of Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli
DETAILS: The library will offer a chance to craft a handmade vintage-styled card. All the craft materials — including lace, doilies, ribbons, paper, glue and more — will be provided. The workshop is for those ages 6 and up. No need to sing up. Just come by and start creating.
