Marlboro nets MHAL win over Red Hook

Dukes ride strong start to big MHAL triumph that snapped Raiders’ 8-game winning streak

Red Hook High’s eight-game winning streak came to an end Friday as Marlboro rolled to a 79-62 win in Mid-Hudson Athletic League boys basketball action.

The (11-2) Dukes struck fast, getting off to a 9-0 lead and extended it to 15-2 Red Hook eventually regrouped and pulled within 32-27 at the half.

Marlboro’s momentum continued in the third quarter with a 21-12 run.

Jaiden Allen tossed in 34 points to lead the Dukes, while John Perugino added 15, Austin Casey had 11 and Allen Musacchio tacked on 10. Allen scored 12 in the fourth, including sinking six foul shots.

Chris Yearwood (21 points), Hunter Cole (14) and Brandon Cahill (13) carried Red Hook. At Saugerties, Dior Johnson 21 of his career-high 35 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Sawyers over Roosevelt.

The score was tied at 42-42 heading into the final period of play when Johnson single-handedly powered a 23-14 run.

Liam Schoonmake­r scored 14 points and had three rebounds and Austin Curlin added 14 points and four rebounds to help guide Saugerties.

Amoni Clarke scored 18 points, Kevin Henri added 14, and Dylan Craft tallied 11 to pace the Presidents.

At Rhinebeck, Jacob Lydon scored 14 points, Trevor Hurst added 12 and Matt Beam connected to 10 to lead Pine Plains to victory.

Lex Kronbichle­r had nine points and seven rebounds and Kevin Lyons scored eight points to help pace Rhinebeck. At Kyserike, Miles Eberhard had 26 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead the Eagles.

Danny Meisler had 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, while Jake Stern added 17 points, 12 boards, nine assists and two steals in the win.

Jason Perez led the Ganders with 13 points, with Riley Tompkins and Ben Hikade adding six and five points, respective­ly, in the loss.
