Gym Stars shine at Hudson Valley Winter Classic
Jessica Baeckmann and Elexandreah Desmarais led the Gym Stars in a strong season-opening outing in the Hudson Valley Winter Classic gymnastics meet at Columbia-Greene Columbia College.
The Gym Stars won the Platinum and Diamond Division titles and were second in the Silver Division.
Baeckmann was the allaround Platinum Younger age group all-around champion with 36.575 points. She was first on the uneven bars (9.425) and floor exercise (9.50), plus third on the vault (9.1) and ninth on the balance beam (8.55).
Desmarais won the Silver Division Older Division allaround with 37.775 points. She won the vault (9.525) and beam (9.425) and third on both the bars (9.425) and floor (9.40).
Other winners for the Gym Stars were Lorna Quick (floor, 9.55) and Madison Gilday (bars, 9.60) in the Silver Younger; Savannah Ferretti (vault, 9.25) in the Platinum Younger, Jessica LaManda (vault, 9.40) in the Level 6 Younger and NaDavia Walters (vault, 9.35) in the Level 8 Older Division.
