Region could receive 3-7” of snow

-

Mixed precipitation, with a total snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of less than half an inch, are forecast for the region, which is under a winter storm watch, effective 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Hazardous travel conditions are expected. Travelers are advised to prepare for slippery roads and limited visibilities.

The National Weather Service has issued the watch for the Mid-Hudson Valley, portions of Northwestern Connecticut, central and southern Taconics, and the southern Berkshires.

The advisory is in effect through 4 a.m. Thursday.

In preparation for the potential of significant snow accumulation, the city of Kingston has declared a snow emergency beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Parking restrictions will go into effect at 11 a.m. Beginning at 11 a.m., vehicles may only be parked on the oddnumbered side of streets, which means the sides of the streets where there are odd-numbered houses.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, vehicles must be moved to the evennumbered sides of the streets, which means the sides of the streets where there are even house numbers. Vehicles not in compliance with these parking restrictions may be ticketed and towed.

Snow emergency routes will be maintained as priorities for plowing throughout the storm. Refuse and recycling are expected to be picked up as scheduled as long as conditions allow.
