Community Comedy Night on Feb. 24 in Woodstock
WHAT: Community Comedy Night WHEN: Feb. 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. WHERE: Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Woodstock DETAILS: The Woodstock Jewish Congregation is offering a Saturday evening Community Comedy Night. The PG-14 event is open to all. Laugh the night away to the schtick of ItalianAmerican Jewish comedian Michael Capozzola. He has been performing his clean and clever comedy routines to sold-out crowds nationally and internationally for 25 years. In his standup show, “You’re Funny, But You Don’t Look Jewish,” Capozzola shares his experiences about what it is like to be an “undercover” member of the tribe. Between sets, appetizers, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. Tickets are $15, $10 for congregation members. Rosendale Theatre will screen ‘Soul Power’ on Feb. 21
WHAT: Screening of “Soul Power” WHEN: Feb. 21 at 7:15 p.m. WHERE: Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale DETAILS: Only one concert ever combined the talents of giants of the soul, jazz, R&B and salsa worlds. Only one concert brought to the same stage James Brown, Miriam Makeba, BB King, Celia Cruz, The Crusaders, The Spinners and Sister Sledge. The concert, held in Africa, was called Zaire ’74 and its explosive energy was captured in the 2008 film “Soul Power.” Woodstock resident Leon Gast, the producer of “Soul Power,” will introduce the screening and conduct a question-and-answer session afterward.
