AARP driver safety classes scheduled

LAKE KATRINE, N.Y. » AARP driver safety classes will take place Saturdays, April 14 and 28, at the senior center, 1 Town Hall Drive.

Sign in is at 8:30 a.m., with the classes starting at 9 a.m. The classes are scheduled to run six hours, but could go longer.

Successful completion of the course qualifies attendees for insurance discounts and the reduction of points on their driver’s licenses. The cost is $25 each, $20 for AARP members. There are no membership or age requiremen­ts. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Senior groups list meeting schedules

PORT EWEN, N.Y. » The Town of Esopus Seniors will meet Monday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at the Espus Town Hall Community Center, 284 Broadway.

The speaker will be Esopus Town Supervisor Shannon Harris. She will talk about what is going on in the town and answer questions.

CLERMONT, N.Y. » The Southern Tier Seniors will have their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 4, at the Monumental Lodge, 7 North Road, Tivoli. Meetings will take place at the lodge until September because of constructi­on at the Clermont Firehouse.

Social time will start at 11 a.m., with a business meeting at noon.

The group will be having its annual spring luncheon. Platters of cold cuts will be provided, and members are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share. A game of horse racing will take place after desserts are served.

The following trips are scheduled:

• April 11 — 1950s and ‘60s musical entertainm­ent with a family-style supper at The Brownstone in Paterson, N.J.

• May 8 — A casino trip to Saratoga, with bonuses of $10 free play and $5 at Lucky Joe’s Cafe.

• June 28 — A steam train ride and narrated nature riverboat cruise on the Lady Thatcher on the Connecticu­t River.

HURLEY, N.Y. » The Hurley Seniors will meet Thursday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Schadewald Hall of the Hurley Reformed Church, 11 Main St.

The guest speaker will be Brian Denault of Habitat for Humanity. He will outline the organizati­on’s work and the Restore store that they operate. A short business meeting will follow, with refreshmen­ts served at the end of the meeting.
