Highland wins nail-biter

Eliz Fino scored seven goals, including the game-winner with 20 seconds left in regulation, to lift Highland High to a 10-9 Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n girls lacrosse victory over John S. Burke Catholic.

The (3-0) Huskies rallied from four back to take a 9-6 lead. Burke, however, fought back to tie at 9-9.

Surrounded by four defenders, Fino was able to see an opening to score the game-winner. Fino had 10 goals, including the gamewinner again, in a 12-11 double-overtime triumph over James I. O’Neill Friday.

Nicole Iapoce had two goals and Brook Harris had one for Highland. Tescheca McGhie had seven saves in the win.

Alexis Sigillo had five goals and one assist, Erin Kerr two goals with an assist and Felicia Carmosa and Shannon Pullar also scored for Burke. Millbrook 13, Red Hook 1

At Red Hook, Erin Fox scored five goals, Kaitlyn Daly had three goals and three assists, Brooke Babbitt added a pair of goals and an assist, Taylor Redl had a goal and one assist, Cat Halpin tallied twice, Cora Page had a goal and Arianna Radovic added an assist to lead (2-0) Millbrook to victory.

Hannah Campagna had the goal for Red Hook.

Claire Martell stopped 10 shots for the Blazers, while Raider goalkeeper Decourcey Gardner made nine saves.
