Rondout rallies for overtime triumph

Rondout Valley scored twice in the final minute of regulation to tie, then defeated Glens Falls 17-16 in a wild non-league boys lacrosse match Saturday.

With Ian Houck pulled out of the cage, defender Nikita Oarcea stopped a shot. That led to three passes upfield and Jarek Rawl scoring with 17 seconds left to get the Ganders within 16-15.

Rawl won the ensuing faceoff. He got the ball to Sam Serrano on the fast break. Serrano fed Jason Perez, who scored the tying goal with just nine seconds left.

After a cross-check penalty that put it a man up, Rondout won on Spencer Sands’ goal at 2:53 into OT.

Perez had five goals, Rawl three goals and two assists, Sands three goals and an assist and Serrano two goals and four assists to lead the (13-2) Ganders. Matt Kelly added two goals and an assist, Greg Neumann had a goal and one assist, Joey MacCreery scored and Caiden Frey added an assist in the win.

Sophomore Hogan Fox tallied eight goals for (8-7) Glens Falls, which scored seven consecutiv­e goals to tie at 13-13 after three quarters.

Nolan Hogan had four goals and an assist, Carter Landerman added a goal and one assist, Brian Donlon dished out two assists, and David Barclay, Liam Gormley and Cooper Montgomery all scored for Glens Falls.

Goalkeeper Will Center had 14 saves for Glens Falls. Houck made nine for Rondout, which is home Monday for a big Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n Division 3 match.
