Danish String Quartet performing in Woodstock

DETAILS: The Danish String Quartet will be performing works by Beethoven, Haydn and Hans Abrahamsen. With its technical and interpretive talents matched by an infectious joy for musicmaking and “rampaging energy” (The New Yorker), the Danish String Quartet is in demand worldwide. Since making its debut in 2002 at the Copenhagen Festival, the group has demonstrated a passion for Scandinavian composers, who it frequently incorporate into adventurous contemporary programs, while also giving skilled and profound interpretations of the classical masters. Tickets are $55, $30 and $5.

Folk Guild chapter opens new season Sept. 14
WHAT: Concert WHEN: Sept. 14 at 8 p.m.
WHERE: Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Route 9 and Church Street, Hyde Park
DETAILS: The Hudson Valley Folk Guild’s Friends of Fiddler’s Green Chapter opens its 40th season with a performance by Magpie, featuring Greg Artzner and Terry Leonino. Magpie’s eclectic repertoire ranges from classic country to swing, from traditional anthems to blues. Admission is $12, $10 for seniors and $8 for Folk Guild members.
