Omar Mahmud, of Red Hook, N.Y., has been promoted to manager of the Red Hook branch of Rhinebeck Bank.
Mahmud received his bachelor of science degree in business of administration, concentrating in marketing, from Marist College.
He be- gan his career at Rhinebeck Bank as a float teller in the northern region of the Hudson Valley in 2014.
••• Kathleen Murphy, of Wappingers Falls, has joined Family Services as associate director of youth services.
Murphy will be responsible for oversight of Elementary After School Programs, the Teen Resource Activity Center, the Summer Youth Employment Program, the Gun Involved Violence Education Project, Poughkeepsie Youth Theater, and the Child Care Center at Family Court and work with the deputy executive director to plan and expand youth services.
She previously worked at both the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Catharine Street Community Center.
Murphy holds a master’s degree in public administration from Marist College and a New York state license to teach.
Based in Poughkeepsie, Family Services serves Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties.
••• Rebekkah Smith Aldrich, of Hudson, has been appointed executive director of the Mid-Hudson Library System, which is based in Poughkeepsie and serves 66 public libraries in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam and Ulster counties.
Aldrich has worked for the system for more than 20 years, most recently as coordinator for library sustainability.
Named a Library Journal “Mover & Shaker” in 2010, an international award that identifies emerging leaders in the field of libraries, Aldrich is known for her work on the topic of sustainability in libraries, authoring two recent books on the topic. She is co-founder and co-chair of the New York Library Association’s Sustainability Initiative, cochair of the American Library Association’s Special Task Force on Sustainability and a member of the Center for the Future of Libraries Advisory Group. Additionally, she is chair of the New York Library Association’s Legislative Committee and recently co-authored a new edition of the Handbook for Library Trustees of New York State.
She received a master’s degree in library science from Southern Connecticut State University and an advanced certificate in public library administration from the Palmer Institute for Public Library Organization & Management from Long Island University.
••• Sharon Whiteley, of Hyde Park, has been promoted to manager of the Hyde Park branch of Rhinebeck Bank.
She began her career with Rhinebeck Bank in 2008 as a senior teller and subsequently worked as assistant branch manager and as sales and service manager and branch team leader in the Rhinebeck branch.
Whiteley has an associate’s degree in communications from Dutchess Commu- nity Col- lege and an associate’s degree in film production from Full Sail University.
