New Paltz repeats as MHAL champs
New Paltz High capped a perfect 9-0 season and, with it, repeated as Mid-Hudson Athletic League girls tennis champions Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over Saugerties.
“We’re worked hard all season and I’m proud of them,” New Paltz coach Scott Taylor said. “We felt a little more pressure this year to repeat as champions, so, in one way, it feels even better than last year.”
The Huguenots won four of the five matches in straight sets. Ariana Rodriguez won at second singles by defeating Aliyah Feeney 10-5 in a super tiebreak.
