Couple arrested on drug, weapon charges
Authorities arrested a town couple Thursday on numerous felony drug and weapons charges.
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. >> Authorities arrested a town couple Thursday on numerous felony drug and weapons charges after an investigation into narcotics sales at a residence on Kelly Road in the hamlet of Saxton, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said members of the Ulster County Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team and town police executed a search warrant at a home owned and occupied by Anne M. Abrahamsen, 67, and Dennis C. Reese, 71, at around 7:40 p.m. Thursday and found two illegal semi-automatic handguns, methamphetamine, cocaine, diverted opioid pharmaceuticals, psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales, drug packaging material and more than $3,000 in cash.
Abrahamsen and Reese were charged with five felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two felony counts each of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon, and one felony count of criminal nuisance. They were also charged with the misdemeanors of criminally using drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities said additional drug charges are pending.
Reese and Abrahamsen were arraigned in Saugerties Town Court and were sent to the Ulster County Jail on $50,000 bail.
