Two performances of ‘Pedro Infante’ this weekend
A theater piece about Mexican crooner Pedro Infante will be performed Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, in Annandale-onHudson and Kingston.
“Pedro Infante: Cien Años Pienso en Ti (One Hundred Years I Think of You)” will be performed Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Chapel of the Holy Innocents at Bard College, 1387 Annandale Road, Annandale-onHudson. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 8 p.m. A second performance will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Old Dutch Church, 272 Wall St., Kingston.
The production is being presented by La Voz Magazine and iD Studio Theater in New York City. La Voz is the only Spanish language print publication for the Mid-Hudson Valley and Catskill region.
An actor and singer, Infante is considered by some to be the Frank Sinatra of Mexico. He is at the heart of this show and twelve of his most-popular songs color the narrative of the performance.
Prior to the Kingston performance, there will be a series of events starting at 1 p.m.There will be a Day of the Dead Procession with Rosendale Improvement Brass Band and Social Club, a Day of the Dead altar, Spanish storytelling, crafts for children, food vendors, live music with Elias Krell and Conjunto Costa Mix, and more.
Tickets for the performance are $20 for general admission, $5 at the door for students with ID. All proceeds benefit La Voz.
A free bus, courtesy of Radio Kingston, will be making a round trip from Poughkeepsie, leaving at 4 p.m., to Kingston on November 3, so everybody has an opportunity to attend the events. For information about riding the bus or the show, call Inés at (845) 7524739.
