LAKE KATRINE >> David W. Short, 65, of Lake Katrine died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Health-Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.
Born Aug. 17, 1953 in Kingston; he was a son of the late Frederick David “Pa” Short and Dorothy May “Ma” (Ransom) Short.
A U.S. Marine, David served during the Vietnam War from 1973 to 1977. He was employed by Dyno Nobel as a munitions assembler until retirement. After retiring, he worked for Mountain Pools. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who loved fishing. David also enjoyed gardening, bowling and splitting two cords of wood each season until three years ago.
David is survived by
his sons, Virgil L. Helzer, III, and his wife Adrienne, Shane Helzer and his wife Nicole, Michael Short and his wife Jessica; his in-laws, Antoinette “Chris” Bergin, Thomas Klownowski and his wife Annmarie, and Michael Klonowski and his wife Betty; and his grandchildren, Zachary, Kirra, Kyla, Alyssa, Alexis, Darian, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Aubrey. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers-in-law,
David, Scott, and John Klonowski, and his sistersin-law, Catherine Cruz and Deborah Klonowski. His feline friend “Babygirl” also died on Sunday.
