Catharsis plays Nov. 17 at Senate Garage

DETAILS: Led by Ryan Keberle, No. 1 Rising Star Trombonist in the Downbeat International Critics Poll, Catharsis has been hailed by The Los Angeles Times for its “potent blend of cinematic sweep and lush, ear-grabbing melodies.” The group brings together elements of chamber music, South American folk and indie rock within a traditional jazz framework, resulting in a sound that thrills audiences. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the concert and $10 for students with ID.

Gauthier in concert in Phoenicia on Nov. 10
WHAT: Concert WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Empire State Railway Museum, 70 Lower High St., Phoenicia
DETAILS: Americana star Mary Gauthier will perform. She will be joined by Jaimee Harris, who will also be the opening act. The Associated Press called Gauthier one of the best songwriters of her generation. The Americana Music Association named Gauthier New Artist of the Year in 2005. Tickets are $25, $23 with RSVP.
