DETAILS: Led by Ryan Keberle, No. 1 Rising Star Trombonist in the Downbeat Internatio­nal Critics Poll, Catharsis has been hailed by The Los Angeles Times for its “potent blend of cinematic sweep and lush, ear-grabbing melodies.” The group brings together elements of chamber music, South American folk and indie rock within a traditiona­l jazz framework, resulting in a sound that thrills audiences. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the concert and $10 for students with ID.

Gauthier in concert in Phoenicia on Nov. 10

WHAT: Concert WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Empire State Railway Museum, 70 Lower High St., Phoenicia

DETAILS: Americana star Mary Gauthier will perform. She will be joined by Jaimee Harris, who will also be the opening act. The Associated Press called Gauthier one of the best songwriter­s of her generation. The Americana Music Associatio­n named Gauthier New Artist of the Year in 2005. Tickets are $25, $23 with RSVP.
