Councilman and deputy clerk win
WAWARSING, N.Y. >> Residents have given appointed Democrat Councilman Steve Bradley a 2,296-1,133 win over Republican first-time candidate Paul Tuzzolino to serve the final year of a vacancy on the Town Board.
Also Tuesday, nine-year Deputy Clerk Jackie Collier defeated first-time candidate Tess Cooper by a vote of 1,958-1,555 to serve the final year of a four-year term as town clerk.
Bradley, 72, was appointed to the board in January to fill the vacancy left when Terry Houck was elected supervisor.
Bradley previously served two terms between 2010 and 2017. He is a lifetime resident of the town, graduated from Ellenville High School in 1964 and earned an associate’s degree in advertising design from Mohawk College in Utica in 1966. He was in the U.S. Army 15th Aviation Group from 1966 to 1968.
Collier, 53, was a firsttime candidate who has lived in the town for 50 years. She graduated from Ellenville High School from 1983 and is a member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge.
Collier was on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines, while Cooper was on the Democratic, Green, Working Families and Women’s Equality lines.
Cooper, 29, is an associate for U.S. Alliance Credit Union.
