LAKE KATRINE >> Vija A. Clark, 87, of Lake Katrine, formerly of Highland Avenue, Kingston, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine.

Born June 9, 1931, in Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Lisa (Laimins) Klana.

Vija was a 1951 graduate of Saugerties High School. She earned her associate’s degree in business and accounting from Ulster County Community College. After graduating in 1983, she began working as an account clerk for the college until her retirement. Quilting was her hobby. Vija was a founding member of the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild and was inducted into the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame. She was a longtime member of the Reformed Church of the Comforter. She loved growing and nurturing orchids and was a member of the Mid-Hudson Orchid Society.

Surviving are her sons, Arthur Clark and his wife Oxana, Andre Clark and his wife Bettyann, and Jeff Clark and his wife Rose; and her grandchild­ren, Matthew, Joshua, Daniel, Mitry, Andrew, Patrick, and Megan Clark.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh. com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
