KINGSTON >> Sher­man Krawitz, 89, of Kingston, died Wed­nes­day, Dec. 5, 2018, at his home, sur­rounded by his fam­ily.

Born and raised in Brook­lyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Max and Anna (Kalt) Krawitz. He was a grad­u­ate of Syra­cuse Univer­sity and served in the U.S. Army dur­ing the Korean War, from 1952-54. He met and mar­ried Toby Os­lin in 1957. The cou­ple moved to Kingston in 1994. He earned a liv­ing as a stock­bro­ker, and his fa­vorite pas­times were stamp col­lect­ing and fly-fish­ing on the Eso­pus Creek.

Sher­man is sur­vived by his wife, Toby Krawitz of Kingston; three daugh­ters and their fam­i­lies, Robin Krawitz of Wilm­ing­ton, Del.; Su­san Krawitz and her daugh­ter, Han­nah Mun­son, of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; and Anne Krawitz, her hus­band Carl­ton Har­ris, and their chil­dren, Emma Har­ris and Max Har­ris of Philadel­phia, Pa.

A grave­side ser­vice will be held at Mon­tre­pose Ceme­tery in Kingston at 10 a.m. Sun­day, Dec. 9, 2018, with Rabbi Yael Romer of Con­gre­ga­tion Emanuel of­fi­ci­at­ing. Shiva will be ob­served at home from Sun­day through Thurs­day be­tween 5 and 8 p.m.
