Man, 37, charged in Novem­ber homi­cide

A city man was charged with sec­ond-de­gree mur­der Fri­day in the Novem­ber fa­tal shoot­ing of a an­other man on the Pough­keep­sie ar­te­rial, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

Terry Cherry, 37, of Pough­keep­sie, was charged in con­nec­tion with the death of Jaquain Johnson, 20, of Pough­keep­sie, who died from a sin­gle gun­shot to the chest.

Johnson was found wounded early Nov. 5 af­ter po­lice re­ceived re­ports of shots fired in the area of Mill and Gar­den streets. They found him ly­ing in the mid­dle of a west­bound lane of the ar­te­rial (U.S. Route 44/state Route 55). He was taken to the Mid-Hud­son with­out bail. He has been Re­gional in the jail since his ar­rest Hos­pi­tal on Nov. 5. in Pough­keep­sie Johnson’s death came in the wake of four other in se­ri­ous shoot­ings in Pough­keep­sie con­di­tion in prior weeks in and died which there were a to­tal the fol­low­ing of five vic­tims, two of day. whom died. Cherry was ar­raigned On Nov. 19, Justin Johnson, in Pough­keep­sie City 18, was the vic­tim of Court and re­turned to a fa­tal shoot­ing on Main the Dutchess County Jail Street.
