CCE offering berry and grape course
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County will offer “The Berry and Grape Production Course for Beginners,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the extension’s offices at 232 Plaza Road in the Kingston Plaza.
Participants will learn determine whether a site is appropriate for growing grapes and berries. Topics covered will include using online tools for a “first look” at a site, basic site requirements (nutrients, soil organic matter and access to markets), farm business basics, and how to find land.
There will be a grower panel, with time for questions and answers The topic for the panel is “Challenges and Successes of Starting a Farm Business”.
