Suspect sought in Newburgh shooting
NEWBURGH, N.Y. >> Police are investigating the shooting of a man early Friday morning.
Authorities say the victim was struck in the chest while in the area of Johnston and Campbell streets at around 4:25 a.m. Friday. He was transported to St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
Police were alerted to the shooting by the Shot Spotter program and have activated the “non-fatal shooting task force,” consisting of a Newburgh detective, Orange County District Attorney investigator and a crime analyst. The federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency and New Windsor Police Department are assisting.
