FDR Li­brary names new trustee

The Franklin D. Roo­sevelt Pres­i­den­tial Li­brary and Mu­seum an­nounced for­mer New York Gi­ants team oph­thal­mol­o­gist, au­thor and chil­dren’s mu­seum co-founder Dr. Anne Sumers to its board of trustees.

Sumers is an Al­pha Omega Al­pha grad­u­ate of the Uni­ver­sity of Cincin­nati Col­lege of Medicine. She com­pleted her oph­thal­mol­ogy res­i­dency at New York Uni­ver­sity. She prac­ticed oph­thal­mol­ogy at a pri­vate prac­tice in Ridge­wood, N.J., for 25 years, and served as team oph­thal­mol­o­gist for the Gi­ants for 20 years.

“We are proud and hon­ored to wel­come Dr. Sumers and look for­ward to work­ing with her for many years,” Roo­sevelt Li­brary Di­rec­tor Paul Spar­row said in a news re­lease an­nounc­ing the ap­point­ment.

From 1992-2014, Sumers was the Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor and Co-Founder of the New Jer­sey Chil­dren’s Mu­seum in Para­mus, New Jer­sey which at­tracts over 100,000 vis­i­tors a year. She is the au­thor of “The Of­fi­cial M.D. Hand­book.”
