Kingston, Ellevnvill­e shine at Sectionals

The Kingston and Ellenville girls highlighte­d some great performanc­es by local athletes at Saturday’s Section 9 Indoor Track Championsh­ips at West Point.

The Kingston girls placed fifth overall with 57 points thanks to a pair of double-medal performanc­es by Samara Herzog and Stephanie Green. Herzog won the 55 meter hurdles (8.69) and was second in the 55 meter dash (7.55), while Green won the shot put (35-10.75) and placed second in the weight throw (44-05.5).

Adrienne Crawford also earned a medal for the Lady Tigers, finishing third in the weight throw (37-04.25).

On the boys side, Kingston’s Jack McDonough earned a pair of medals, winning the weight throw (55-03.5) and finishing third in the shot put (42-10.5).

The Ellenville girls, meanwhile, finished third overall with 77 points. The Lady Devils won the 4x800 relay (11:15.86) and got a double-medal performanc­e from Ashlyn Rivera, who won the Class B 1500 meter (5:30.51) and was second in the 3000 meter (11:49.68). Cristina Torres was second in the 55 hurdles (9.29).

Ellenville also placed third in both the girls 4x400 (4:51.57) and 4x200 (1:57.64) relays.

Elsewhere, Marlboro’s Kaitlyn Conte won a pair of Class B events, claiming titles in the shot put (3509) and weight throw (4409.25).

Several other local athletes won titles in both Class A and B.

In Class A, Paul Sandford of Roosevelt won the 1000 meter in 2:35.15.

The other Class B firstplace finishers included Braxxdon Dawson (1000 meter, 2:39:15), Marie Antonelli (600 meter, 1:46.45), Amarian Hughes (triple jump, 41-01.25), and Freddie Callo (weight throw, 5509.5) of Marlboro; Felicia Ojarovsky (1500 race/walk, 8:29.08), Lucci Robertson (high jump, 5-01), and Sam Haaland (pole vault, 12-0) of Onteora; and Jennifer Callan (3000 meter, 11:47.25), and Adam Fares (55 dash, 6.89) of Rondout Valley.

Monroe-Woodbury won the boys team championsh­ip with 123 points, while Cornwall claimed the girls

title with 116 points.
