Man killed by tree he was cutting down
The accident happened in Yulan, a hamlet in the town of Highland, according to the county sheriff’s office.
YULAN, N.Y. >> A man was killed Sunday evening when a tree that he was cutting down fell on him, authorities said. The man, whose name was not immediately released, drove an ATV to a location on Martin Drive in the hamlet of Yulan around 6:30 p.m. and began to cut down a tree with a chain saw.
The preliminary investigation indicated the tree fell on the man, causing serious injuries. He was unable to get back to his ATV or call for help, and died at the scene, said Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty.
The man was pronounced dead by Sullivan County Coroner Elton Harris.
Yulan is a hamlet in the town of Highland, in western Sullivan County.
